Rationale


The Marine Radio Operator Certificate of Proficiency (MROCP) is a self based Study programme has been developed to assist applicants for the examination for the issue of a Marine Radio Operator Certificate of Proficiency (MROCP), to study the material for this certificate in their own time and at a pace suitable to their particular circumstances.

Review of Training Material


The recommended order for the review of material is as follows:


Self Testing


Students are encouraged to review the sample questions and answers, to test your knowledge and understanding of the contents of the relevant chapters.


While a lot of the material in the Marine Radio Operators Handbook is not included in the content for the examination, students are encouraged to review all the relevant material (including the Handbook Appendices) in order to gain a fuller understanding and knowledge of the subject material.


Examination


The Short Range exam and Long Range exam will be held on a date to be confirmed and is a multiple-choice paper, with a 80% pass requirement.

What to bring with you when you sit your exam?


  • Credit card, debit card or cash to pay the cost to Cairns Boat Safe Training is $50 per licence
  • Credit card details or cheque to pay the cost for the exam is $89 per licence payable to the Australian Maritime College
  • A Passport Size Colour photo to be included with the application to the Australian Maritime College
  • A form of ID eg drivers licence, passport, other ID card


Prior to the Exam


A review of the training material will be held prior to the exam to provide an opportunity to answer any questions and to clarify any remaining issues. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have.
